We extend a hearty congratulations to our colleague and friend Dr. Michael Raines, Instructional Associate Professor of TESL and IEP, recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation Award 2020 for outstanding service to the university.

The Sullivan Foundation Award honors “members of the college community of noble character who have acted as humble servants to others by putting service of others before self-interest.” This prestigious award recognizes a commitment to community and to living out the ideals of service and character that exemplify the legacy of Algernon Sydney Sullivan. Previous recipients include US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, animal rights activist Cynthia Bathurst, and 22nd and 24th President of the United States Grover Cleveland.

We are honored by your spirit of service to the Department of Modern Languages and to the University of Mississippi, and we salute your indomitable positive attitude.
