A new fund benefitting the UM Department of Modern Languages honors one of Oxford’s most beloved couples, Becky and Al Moreton. The Rebecca “Becky” Moreton UM Linguistics Fund in support of the College of Liberal Arts linguistics program will provide the program with needed resources to serve students for many years to come.
Becky and Al Moreton were known for their hand-in-hand walks around Oxford and their lifelong work to make their community better. Al, a longtime assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, and Becky, a French instructor in Modern Languages who held a doctorate in linguistics, were tragically killed in a car accident in 2016. Their family established this fund to honor their lives of service. With this campaign, we ask you to make a gift to the Moreton Fund in memory of Becky and Al and in support of University of Mississippi students.
Please honor Becky Moreton’s longtime advocacy for education and the Department of Modern Languages with your contributions! The Moreton Fund allows this special couple to continue to make a positive impact on our University and its people.
